Storage & Transportation in the oil & gas industry
- Instrumentation and measurement solutions for the entire oil and gas value chain
- Custody transfer measurement solutions for ship, truck and rail loading
- Turn-key pipeline leak detection systems without false alarms
Transportation and storage of natural gas and crude oil is a major activity for the industry, sometimes known as the midstream segment. Truck, rail tank and ship loading are usually custody transfer measurements, when the products change ownership. Even in a pipeline system, flow, pressure and temperature instrumentation and analyzers are used for custody transfer measurements and pipeline conditions are monitored to ensure process safety, and for leak detection.
At storage and distribution centres, process instruments are installed directly into the pipeline or storage tank, where tank gauging and safety systems ensure that tanks cannot be overfilled.
KROHNE is a long established supplier of process instrumentation, and also supplies complete measurement solutions such as custody transfer metering skids and analyzers for monitoring the complete oil or gas transaction. Custody transfer instrumentation is often supplied as a skid mounted package, and duty-master configurations are used - where a master meter or prover is used to regularly check the duty meter. For pipeline metering systems KROHNE offers a state-of-the-art pipeline leak detection system that can be supplied as a package, including the required measurement instrumentation. On retrofit installations existing plant instrumentation can often be incorporated into this system.
KROHNE Global Industry Division Oil & Gas
Headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, our Global Industry Division Oil & Gas is dedicated to serving customers in the up-, mid- and downstream oil & gas industry. Our offering extends from elementary process instrumentation up to fully engineered metering systems, and from engineering consultancy during the design phase, through to on-site commissioning and training. With presence in around 100 countries, local support is usually available from just around the corner. This applies whether the application can be covered by standard instrumentation, or is more challenging, where a one-off solution with dedicated process diagnostics is required.
